 Why did you start Capoeira?

I saw people playing capoeira the first time a few years before I started training and I’ve been interested since but never dared trying, I was thinking ‘I’m too busy now’, ‘it’s too difficult for me’ and so on. The idea came back once I moved to Ireland: I wanted to practice a sport that I could enjoy and also meet people so I told my self ‘no harm trying!’ and now the only regret is not having started earlier!

Why do you like Capoeira?

Capoeira is a great way to train your body (strength, flexibility, fitness, balance, …) with fun and socializing. The group I practice with is very close and inclusive and we sometimes travel to go to capoeira events which are a way to see different capoeira games and meet people.

Do you do any other sports?

I practice aerial silks too and I think I would have been reluctant to start if I didn’t discover through capoeira that even what seems impossible at the start can be learned…With a lot of practice!

 How often do you train? I train capoeira twice a week .

 

What’s a typical session like?

There’s no standard session as capoeira is a mix of acrobatic, martial arts, music that is hard to concentrate in a class so every class is different. We always have warm up and then focus on some kicks or other movements. We usually have some time towards the end to practice acrobatic and music. Beginners and more advanced levels train altogether and help each other improving.

What’s your favorite thing about Capoeira?
